GIG - TWISTER
Travo (Piacenza), 8th july 2001
On sunday 8th July 2001 in Travo (near Piacenza) during the yearly Beer-festival, the Max Magagni "Twister" album has been presented to the audience. Special on-stage guest was ROBIN MC AULEY, who sings on this cd. It was a Michael Schenker Group tribute, in the sense that Robin was there, and, as you will see, because of the tracklist.
Rehearsals were a great tour-de-force for the band and the crew, infact they took place only one day before the gig (saturday 7th), and for a few hours.
The gig starts with ARMED AND READY, directly from the Schenker live album, passing with historical episodes of MSG project, like PARADISE, GIMME YOUR LOVE, the superb WHEN I'M GONE, inserted into the acustic trilogy with STAY WITH ME and LONELY, one of the songs taken from the new album of Max Magagni.
Then it continues with a tribute to Cozy Powell, translated into a really powerful drum solo. Other classics like ATTACK OF THE MAD AXEMAN, ANYTIME, LIGHTS OUT. Audience impact was made with I WANT IT ALL, evergreen song by Queen; and naturally were played other songs from "Twister".
5 AM, a wonderful ballad that Robin Mc Auley has modeled on his voice (originally it was performed by Michele Luppi), as CAN YOU GET IT UP? sung by GLENN HUGHES in the studio version. The song resulted less funky, but more melodic, in perfect AOR ballad-style.
Then THE WAY U LOOK AT ME, a classic rock'n'roll (originally sung by PAUL SHORTINO in "Twister"). Another tribute to the guitar follows with INTO THE ARENA, and two pure hard-rock songs CRAZY and BECAUSE OF YOU, inserted in the "Twister" album.
Well, a good opportunity to listen to this band, of which surely we will hear talking about in the future. The musicians are really professional and technically prepared. Everything dressed up with the illustrious presence of ROBIN MC AULEY.
