MATTEO FILIPPINI - MOONSTONE
Originally the Moonstone project started in 1996 only as a musical divertissement. Guitarist Matt Filippini started to work on some songs in 1997 and next year released "Waves Of Mind", his first demotape. The work (completely home recorded...not so well to be honest!) was a mixture of his musical influences: from the Rainbow oriented hard rocker "The Stranger" to the 70s prog rock on "Lilith" or "Touching The Sky" to the acoustic/folk atmospheres on "Butterfly" or "The Dance Of Woods". The demo was supposed to become an official release on cd, but due to financial reasons the idea never materialized.
That project has now come to be a reality, and Matteo has just finished the recordings, that took place in Bergamo at Silicon Groove Studios. There's not a definitive deal with a record company yet, though Matt hopes to have the album out for early 2005.
Glenn
Hughes will sing on "Where Did You Hide The Blues
You've Got", a bluesy & emotional song which also features
Ian Paice on drums. Glenn will also sing on "Rose
In Hell", an already legendary song, with Ian Paice on drums again.
The guest roster of the record is really amazing, and it includes,
among the others, the likes of Graham Bonnet, Steve Walsh and Eric Bloom!

HERE'S A CLIP FROM THE RECORD! Where do you hide the blues you've got
featuring Glenn Hughes!
On 8/10/2004, as a special
guest of the Twin Dragons featuring Tony Martin concert at the "Last Heroes" in Gallarate, Matteo
had the chance to showcase some of the songs from Moonstone. Even
without the help of the incredible legends that appear on the record,
the songs proved themselves excellent and didn't pale at all in a
setlist that included timeless Purple classics like "Mistreated", "Stormbringer" and "Gettin' Tighter". You can find a gallery from the night at this link. |
